Maree has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer, practising in Victoria and Tasmania. She was called to the Victorian Bar in 2010 and took silk in 2024.
Maree offers particular expertise in the following areas:
- Appellate advocacy, having appeared at all state and federal levels (including the High Court)
- Inquests, inquiries and commissions
- Personal injuries and tort
- Public and administrative law
- Regulatory and disciplinary matters
Maree is currently briefed as Counsel Assisting the Coroner in the Coronial Inquest into the Hillcrest Primary School jumping castle tragedy (with J O’Farrell).
She was Counsel Assisting the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings from 2021 – 2022 (led by E Bennett SC, now Justice Bennett of the Federal Court).

Prior to commencing practice as a barrister, Maree was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Neave of the Victorian Court of Appeal, and a Senior Associate in the Litigation practice group at Allens. She completed a Master of Law degree at the University of Cambridge and has a First Class Honours undergraduate degree in law from the University of Tasmania.
