Phillip has over 30 years of legal experience, as solicitor (1994–1999), principal solicitor (2000–2012), and counsel (2013 onwards).

His areas of specialisation include:

Alongside his core specialisations, Phillip is regularly briefed in property law, corporate matters, guardianship, administration, powers of attorney disputes, and general commercial litigation.

He has served as President of the Tasmanian Bar Association, and as a member of both the Legal Disciplinary Tribunal and the Local Government Code of Conduct Panel.
